For the ÖSD certificate A1 exam, participants should be able to communicate on a basic level in simple everyday situations. With this exam, learners demonstrate linguistic competence in routine situations with familiar topics and activities. This exam is designed for learners aged 14 and over.
ÖSD certificate A2 tests the ability to communicate at an elementary level in simple, routine situations in everyday and professional life. The focus is on the simple and direct exchange of information about familiar and common topics. This exam is designed for learners aged 14 and over.
The ÖSD Zertifikat B1 tests the ability to use the language independently in everyday and professional situations involving familiar topics and personal areas of interest. The exam is published jointly with the Goethe-Institute and is designed for learners aged 16 and over.
For the ÖSD certificate B2 exam, participants should be able to express themselves clearly and in detail on a wide range of topics and be able to hold a normal conversation spontaneously and fluently with native speakers. This exam demonstrates linguistic competence in communication situations that extend beyond the private sphere into the (semi-)public and, in some cases, the professional sphere. ÖSD certificate B2 is designed for learners aged 16 and over.

ÖSD stands for both “Österreichisches Sprachdiplom Deutsch” and “Österreich, Schweiz, Deutschland” and is part of the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (CEFR). The exams take into account the different standard variants of the German language
